British boxer Anthony Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Deadly Road Accident
Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, local government spokespeople announced on Wednesday evening. The 36-year-old was part of a serious road collision outside Lagos on Monday, a horrific crash that claimed the lives of two of his valued colleagues.
Recovering from Minor Injuries
Joshua had remained in the hospital while recovering from minor injuries, his management team had said on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on social media that Joshua was judged healthy enough to continue his recovery at home.
“The boxer and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two departed friends as they were being made ready for the journey back,” Omotosho said.
A Tribute to the Fallen
The two men who died were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. It was also noted that the champion was filled with sorrow and full of emotions over the loss of his two dear friends.”
His release from the hospital arrives after the sports world had expressed sympathy for the fighter in the aftermath of the terrible crash.
