Expedition 33 Triumphs at the 2025 Gaming Honors
The forty-third annual Golden Joystick Awards were hosted recently, and with a remarkable show, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was crowned the biggest winner. This breakout role-playing game from Sandfall Interactive won the coveted Game of the Year award, along with prizes for Superb Storytelling and Top Visual Design.
Complementing the studio's achievements, its gifted cast also garnered personal awards. Jennifer English was named Outstanding Lead Performance for her performance as Maelle, while Ben Starr won Best Supporting Performer for his work as Verso. Moreover, Sandfall Interactive itself was honored as Best Development Team. Overall, Clair Obscur and its creative team achieved seven awards during the show.
Other notable winners included Ghost of Yōtei, which won Best Audio Design and Best Console Game, and Hollow Knight: Silksong, honored with Top Self-Published Indie and Premier PC Title. Notably, the majority of Golden Joystick Awards are voted on by the public, with only 4 special—Critics Choice, Breakthrough, Hall of Fame inductee, and Streamer Selection—determined by experts.
