Six Suspects Apprehended Following 12 Million Euro Robbery on Gold Processing Laboratory in the French Republic

A team of six suspects equipped with high-powered firearms employed explosives to break into a gold refining laboratory located in Lyon, France, causing light wounds to five workers during what appears to be the newest significant broad daylight robbery to occur in the nation.

The bold operation took place on Thursday afternoon, with officers quickly arresting the alleged criminals and recovering the stolen goods estimated to be worth 12 million euros (£10.5M), officials reported.

Five workers of the precious metals facility were slightly hurt due to the explosion, and three employees required hospital checks for examination, officials confirmed. Twenty-eight employees were inside the facility when the thieves struck.

The suspects, believed to be experienced criminals, were taken into custody a brief time later in the neighboring community of Vénissieux, a source close to the investigation stated.

A female participant who participated in the robbery was likewise arrested, a police source indicated.

“Six suspects who employed explosive devices in a raid against a metals processing plant in Lyon were arrested at the scene,” France's security official declared on social media, lauding police for their “firmness, rapid response and command”.

High-caliber firearms, handguns and detonation devices were recovered as well.

The raid happened as authorities on that Thursday detained five further people, including a primary suspect, in regarding this month's brazen theft at the Louvre.
