The incident led to the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the multi-storey parking facility.

Two men have been charged in connection with a luggage theft where a suspected capsaicin spray led to people being hurt at the UK's busiest airport.

Tyrone Richards, 31, and Anton Clarke-Butcher, 24, now face two robbery charges and two counts of using a harmful chemical, authorities have stated.

The charges follow an investigation into an attack at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Before the assault occurred, two women were robbed of their suitcases stolen after exiting a car park lift, authorities reported.

A young child was among those injured in the event. A total of five individuals went to hospital for treatment and were subsequently released.

This event – which authorities stated was not part of a series and not being treated as terrorism – led to disruptions to rail services and the partial closure of the main airport road tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park for a limited duration.
